In The News

Friday, November 16th, 2007

It is finally Friday and that can only meant that it’s time for In The News. One of the best 100 blogs on the Internet according to thatweekendguy, whoever that may be.

  1. Did you read about the giant diamond? It seems that a giant 84.37 carat diamond sold for $16.2 million dollars at auction by Sotheby. The diamond bought by Guess Jeans founder George Marciano will be named “Chloe” after his daughter. I almost got it but was short $16.2 million, yep.
  2. Did you read about Hanging Heart? A sculpture of stainless steel heart sold for a record $23.6 million dollars. At nearly 9 feet tall and weighing in at 3,500 hundred pounds the piece by artist Jeff Koons becomes the most expensive piece by a living artist ever auctioned.
  3. Did you read about October’s video game sales? It seems that video game hardware and software sales for the month of October hit $1.1 billion dollars, a 73% jump compared to $643 million a year earlier. That is a lot of money.
  4. Did you read about MLS Cup 2007? It seems that the defending champion Houston Dynamo will face the New England Revolution this Sunday at RFK stadium, this in a re-match of last years championship game. The Dynamo seeks their second straight while the Revolution looks for their first. The game will be televised by ABC and Telefutura at 12 Noon ET, check your local listings. Go Revs!!.

Wednesday Video

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Wednesday is already here so that means that it’s time for Wednesday Video. Last week’s video was “somebody” by Reba McEntire. I like Country a lot and Reba is one of my favorite female singers, I just love the way she talks. That lovely accent reminds me of my friend and for the record I have an accent myself. That video was shot here in LA on the corner of Fairfax Ave and Wilshire Blvd. There is a Diner there called Johnie’s that has been closed for I don’t know how long with signs advertising that it’s available for filming. Pay close attention to the video close to the end, in the background you can see part of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA. Just across the street from LACMA there is another museum that is not on the video, the Petersen Automotive Museum. And in the video you can also see the stop sign for the Rapid, the bus I take to work mentioned on this post that I just realized I need to update. A little extra info about the video for all of you, and that brings us to today’s video. Hope you like it.

Quick Hits Of The Day

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Well, Monday came and went and that not it’s time to get back to work. The extra day off didn’t do me that good for one reason and one reason only. I spent most of the day playing that game I wrote about on Monday, Call Of Duty 4. I am not playing the regular game, I am playing online with a whole bunch of people from all over the place so far I like it a lot. I’ve made it all the way to Sergeant but if I keep at it the sky is the limit, ok maybe not the sky but you get my point. I know that I should have spent the day resting but I just couldn’t resist the temptation.

Remember that I wrote about my Zune, read about it here. I could never get it to work again, I checked online and it said I could return it but I needed “a bona fide receipt” that my sister didn’t have anymore. Well, my sister was able to return it to the place she got it from and got credit for the full amount. She told me about it yesterday and lo and behold I have a $223.00 dollar credit ready to spend on another Zune or anything else I want. Do I get another Zune? or do I get the new I Phone, what do you think?.

And speaking of the Zune, the Zune 2 debuts today. There new models are the 80GB, the 8GB and the 4GB. The one I used to have was the original 30 GB Zune.

Going To Work?

Monday, November 12th, 2007

It’s Monday and I don’t have to go to work today. The weekend just flew by for some reason but that is ok because I am going to enjoy it as much as I can and I hope you do the same.

On Saturday I wen to bed at about 6:30 AM playing Resident Evil 4. Got some sleep and then got up at about 2PM and by that time by brother and nephew showed up with a brand new game, Call Of Duty 4. So they start playing and I am just there watching them play. At 5:30 PM I told them to stop because I was going to watch the game between the defending champion Houston Dynamo and the Kansas City Wizards. In the end the Dynamo won 2-0 and advanced to the MLS finals and will face the New England Revolution this coming Sunday. I am going with New England on this one. Watched some more TV and then started playing Call Of Duty 4 and ended up going to bed at 4:30 AM.

On Sunday I got up at 4 PM, took a shower got lunch, yes lunch, and the found out that my brother and nephew had finished Call Of Duty 4. At 6pm we watched 28 Weeks Later, a movie about zombies and follow up to the original 28 Days Later, I recommend  them both. By then it was about 7:50 PM and the pizza had arrived just in time for The Amazing Race. I highly recommend it, the best reality show on TV. I got Sunshine out and got online, surfed around for a couple of hours and then went to bed after a very short day and fun day, wink.
