In The News

Friday, September 14th, 2007

It is Friday and that can only mean that it’s time for In The News. Winner of no Emmy Awards for outstanding reporting.

  1. Did you read about the salty burger? It seems than a McDonald’s employee accidentally spilt salt on hamburger meat. After trying to “thump the salt off” with help from a co-worker and supervisor. A burger was sold to a police officer who later returned and told the manager that the burger made him sick. The employee was questioned, arrested and spent the night in jail. I am not going to comment because I don’t want to be arrested.
  2. Did you read about Led Zeppelin? It seems that Led Zeppelin will be performing for a tribute concert at London’s O2 Arena on November 26 2007. About 20 million fans have tried to get tickets in the process crashing the O2 Arena website. The band broke up in 1980 after the death of drummer John Bonham. The band has sold more than 300 million albums. I own some of those albums, yeah.
  3. Did you read about the Reventon? No, we are not talking about a party. It seems that Lamborghini introduced the Reventon, named after a bull that killed matador Felix Guzman in 1943, at the Frankfurt international autoshow. Lamborghini sold out in four days the 20 cars it plans to build. The price tag, only $1.4 million dollars each. I am sure I have about $2 million laying around somewhere.

Some Detective Work

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

If you read August’s Traffic Report then you know that a new record for unique visits was set with 1847. This after doubting that I would be able to even match July’s numbers. After the problem was fixed to my surprise traffic picked up quite a bit and I have been trying to figure out what exactly attracted all those visitors. Knowing that would tell me what you guys like to read and in turn would help me the most by taking Weekendshere down the right path. And for the record I am not saying that we are on the wrong path, not at all. We are just a little lost.

The way it is now I write about different topics, investing, blogging, news and  lets not forget those rambles. What is missing in my opinion is that one topic that whenever you visit Weekendshere you won’t have to ask yourself, what is this site about?. When I find out you will be the first to know, the thought that this blog can only get better keeps me going everyday.

And that brings us to today’s video, check it out and let me know if you like it or hate it.

Lets Make A Difference, Part 2

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

If you remember a while back I wrote a post titled Lets Make A Difference, you can read it here. The post is about how we can make a difference using Windows Live Messenger, an instant message program. Microsoft will donate a portion of the advertising revenue every time you start a conversation. A great way to help if you ask me. At the time I wrote the post there were nine causes to choose from, there are 10 now. I decided to check the Live Messenger home page to see how much had been raised so far. The total amount is $92,534.67 since march 2007 when the program started. I encourage you to check it out and if it’s something that interests you then by all means join the program like I did.

Is The Weekend Over?

Monday, September 10th, 2007

It is Monday and that can only mean one thing that I am painfully aware of, back to work. If you remember last weekend it was hotter than hot, this weekend it wasn’t that bad.

Saturday was truly a slow day, I didn’t do that much. All I did was relax, relax and relax most of the morning which was good. In the afternoon I installed Medieval Total War because I wanted to play that game again so badly and I did for a couple of hours.

Sunday was a mixed day. I got up at about 11:30 AM and got ready to watch the game. The battle for first place in the eastern conference between that four time champion and first place DC United with 43 points and second place New England Revolution with 42 points. The game was very good and in the end United won 4-2 and that leaves my team atop the eastern conference with a league best 14-6-4 record and 46 points. Then I went to Hollywood with my friend. We met at the Vermont/Wilshire station and took the metro to the Hollywood/Vine station. We then walked heading west on Hollywood Blvd checking stores, I was really looking for a hat but didn’t find one I liked. When we reached Hollywood and Highland we went to the H&H Center which is a retail and entertainment place. We checked some stores, and then had dinner. After dinner we headed east on Hollywood Blvd checking stores all the way back to the Hollywood/Vine station. Went back home, watched TV and then went to bed. And that was pretty much how Sunday went. This much I can tell you, I can’t wait for the next weekend.
