Not Again!!

Monday, August 20th, 2007

The weekend in itself was great. One problem at Weekendshere.com kept me busy for most of the weekend. It looks like there is only one post in the main page instead of the usual five. If you want to check other categories you get 404 errors. The problem started sometime on Friday but I didn’t become aware of it until about 9 PM , I didn’t do anything for a couple of days thinking that it would go back to normal. It didn’t so I finally e-mailed my webhost and all I got was a lousy e-mail telling me what could have caused the problem and what I had to do to fix it. Excuse me but last I checked the 404 error is a server problem, unless I am wrong, and like I said in my second e-mail to my webhost, I don’t have one at my house. This has affected how many people visit the site, usually visits are down during the weekend but this weekend the numbers were unusually low. If people visiting can’t check other categories then the numbers are going to be lower than low and the page views even lower. Whatever the problem is I will let you know what my webhost says and we’ll take it from there. Something similar happened before, the site was out for 2 days but then everything went back to normal and I am sure hoping that is the case this time. Good to know that my vacation is not over yet.

Six Flags Magic Mountain, Part 2

Friday, August 17th, 2007

I woke up very sore, don’t know if it’s because of all the running I did, all the walking or because I was doing that superman thing while on the rides. All I know is that I am sore and so is everybody else. Let me forget about the pain for a few and let me continue with part 2 shall we.

After getting soaked we moved to another roller coaster that I have never been able to ride for the same exact reasons as X. Deja Vu open in 2001, with a top speed of 65 mph ”The 20-story free fall is the easy part. You’ll never forget Deja Vu because, it happens twice.” This ride I liked a lot, specially the first drop and all I can say is that it was worth the wait. After that we moved onto Log Jammer, another water ride but since most of us were already wet we didn’t mind. A fun ride indeed. After that we go to the next coaster, The Riddler’s Revenge. “You’ll stand, not sit, as you race at 65 mph heads-over-heels.” And as the quote says you have to stand all the way throughout the ride, a good ride. The next coaster in our sights was Batman The Ride and although it only goes 50 mph this ride feels a lot faster than that. I did something especial on Batman, since we were sitting all the way in the front I took my brother’s digital cam and recorded the ride. I am telling you, I had to fight all throughout the ride to keep the cam pointing straight ahead but in the end the mission was accomplished. Maybe someday I will let everybody see it. After that we moved to the next roller coaster, with a max speed of 65 mph Scream “sends you racing at intense speeds while strapped in a flying chair”. This is one of those fun rides you can’t enough of. I remember commenting to my family after the ride was over that I wanted my money back because I sure didn’t scream, I was too busy doing that Superman thing and screaming………………..just a bit. Don’t forget to be back tomorrow for part 3, same time, same channel.

Six Flags Magic Mountain, Part 1

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Wednesday was one of those days you wish they never finished. I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain about one hour or less from LA, depending on traffic. My posse consisted of me and 4 other family members, my sister, my nephew, my brother and his girlfriend, and that is something of a tradition we have that we do once a year. We always try go on a Wednesday and during the summer. It seems to be less crowded and that is the way we like it and yesterday was no exception. We left at 9 AM and arrived there at about 9:50 AM, we parked and then went to get in line. The park opened at 10:30 AM and by then we had decided we were going to run to get on one of the roller coasters that me and my sister have never been able to ride since it opened in 2002. The previous occasions we’ve wanted get on this ride it was either too crowded or it wasn’t working at all but this time it was and we were ready for it. The name of the ride is X, and it “spins 360-degrees forward or backwards” and has a speed of 76 mph according to the Six Flags site. So we run and end up being some of the first people in line as planned. We get on and off we go, let me tell you, it was something else. The ride was fast and furious to say the least, a good roller coaster. Task completed, we then move on to the newest roller coaster in the park, it opened last year if I remember correctly. Tatsu is the name, it “gives you the sensation of flight” at 62 mph according to their site. When we get there there is already a pretty long line and since we got on it last year we decide to skip it and move on and check back later. Next we decide to get on Roaring Rapids, “Western America’s first man-made white-water river”, according to their site. So we get on and I am very confident that I am not getting wet and bold enough to announce that to my family, in the end I should have kept quiet because I was soaked from the neck all the way to my shoes and I do mean soaked. To be continued tomorrow, same time, same channel.

Superliga

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

The second semifinal game of the Superliga took place yesterday between the 2 time champion LA Galaxy and the 4 time champion DC United. I don’t think I have to say who I was rooting for, if you are a regular reader of this blog you know the answer to that and in the end my team lost. The Galaxy won 2-0 and with that they move to the finals to face Pachuca on August 29th. I am highly disappointed but in the end I have to accept defeat and move on.

Boring Tuesday

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Tuesday was a really and I do mean a really boring day. Laziness was the order of the day and I more than lived up to the name. I did do a load of laundry and that was pretty much it when it comes to hard labor. Sad, isn’t it?. And that was just the morning. In the afternoon I decided to get off my lazy behind and went to the Bestbuy located in Culver City with my brother and his gf. Once there I checked some cd’s and movies but nothing really caught my eye. Once they got what they needed we left and that was the end of the day. This is turning into the best vacation I’ve ever had, pretty sad huh.

On Tuesday night the first semifinal game of the Superliga took place between the Houston Dynamo and Pachuca. In the end after a 2-2 tie during regulation play and overtime the game was decided on penalty kicks. Pachuca  won4-3 and in doing so they move to the finals and will wait for the winner of the LA Galaxy and DC united game today, check your local listings.
