In The News
Friday, August 31st, 2007After a two week hiatus the least powerful name in news is back. We hired no new staffers, we opened no new overseas bureaus and you sure can’t find us on cable or regular TV for that matter. In The News steroid free most of the time.
- Did you read about the diamond encrusted skull? It seems that artist Damien Hirst sold his diamond encrusted platinum skull called, “For the Love of God,” for $100 million dollars to an investment group. The skull is built from 32 platinum plates and 8,061 diamonds. It has a 52 carat pink diamond in the center and is studded with 14 pear shaped diamonds.
- Did you read about the suspended wrestlers? it seems that World Wrestling Entertainment has suspended 10 of its wrestlers for violating a steroids and other drugs policy instituted last year. I am shocked to say the least, yeah right.
- Did you read about Victoria Beckham? It seems that Posh Spice will make a guest appearance in “Ugly Betty” this coming season. She will play a bridesmaid at the wedding of Wilhelmina Slater played by Vanessa Williams. I wonder if she would write a guest post for Weekendshere, imagine all the publicity you would get Victoria.
- Did you read about the kung fu monks asking for an apology? It seems that the cradle of Chinese kung fu, The Shaolin Temple is seeking an apology from a forum user who goes by the name “Five Minutes Every Day” because he said that a Japanese ninja went to the Shaolin temple and asked for a fight and that the monks failed to beat him and according to “Five Minutes Every Day”, “The facts that the monks could not defeat a Japanese ninja showed that they were named as kung fu masters in vain.” To which a lawyer for the Shaolin temple said, “The so-called defeat is purely fabricated, and we demand the Internet user to apologize to the whole nation for the wrongs he or she did.” yep.
