In The News

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Now that we have finally reached the end of the week we all can get ready for the weekend. Put away your newspapers, turn off the tv and enjoy this edition of In The News. Approved by the FDA.

  1. Did you read about the man protesting a ticket?. It seems that a man in Austin Minnesota got a parking ticket. He then put an envelope with his payment and something extra at a drop box at the police station, dog poop. An office employee smelled something funny and when opening the envelopes she noticed one of them leaking a brown fluid that got on her hands and desk. She was hospitalized for 2 days and now the man has been charged with disorderly conduct and summoned to appear in court June 15. One smelly story in more ways than one.
  2. Did you read about the film crew?. It seems that a a U.S. film crew in Vancouver making a documentary about the world’s ‘most beautiful cities’ had all their camera equipment stolen while they were on a coffee break. And according to Const. Howard Cho, "Ironically they were filming Vancouver as being one of the top places in the world to live and visit.".
  3. Did you read about the wolf man?. It seems that Robert, 40, from Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin was sentenced to six months in jail. He faced charges of criminal trespassing, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. When police arrested him he claimed he was a werewolf who could change forms. Easy on that green stuff Robert, it is not salad you know.

Highest Rate of Return

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Deciding where to invest your hard earned money can be quite a a pain for most people. Personally for me it wasn’t that big of a deal. I wanted to invest in the fund that had the highest rate of return possible, that is how I chose the DFEMX fund. Since I am not planning to touch that money until the time comes I thought I would invest my 403-B money aggressively, after all I have to make up for time lost. According to the info I  read about the fund the average annual return is 22.21% for the first year, in the end the rate of return could be higher or lower. I can make some money and I can lose some money that is just the way it is. That is a risk I am willing to take for the simple reason that I am just beginning and there isn’t that much to lose anyway. I am living by that saying, "the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward". At some point I am going to have to diversify my investment and change from aggressive investing mode to conservative investing mode but it will be a while before that happens. The way I see it, if you are just beginning to invest you can afford to invest aggressively, if you are halfway to retirement you have to diversify and invest conservatively to protect your gains and once you retire you can enjoy your rewards.

What Weekend?

Monday, May 14th, 2007

This weekend was not a very pleasant one. Being sick is a bummer in more ways than one. Don’t know if it’s the hot days and cool nights or if it’s just going around. Whatever the answer is all I know is that it is a pain being sick. Taking medicine and sleeping most of the weekend is not my idea of fun specially when all you want to do is to enjoy a few games, read the paper, and do whatever needs to be done on weekends. If it sounds like I am complaining you are right, I am. Time to grab the week by the horns and make it a very productive one. Remember, next thing we know it will be Friday and we’ll be ready for the weekend. You know I can’t wait for that. Talk to you soon. I forgot to mention that my four time champion D.C.United was idle this weekend, just letting you know.

In The News

Friday, May 11th, 2007

Friday is finally here and with that the newest edition of In The News is here for your reading pleasure. In The News made from 100% recycled pixels.

  1. Did you read about the guy selling his wife online?. It seems that a man in Brazil really needed  money so he offered to sell his wife at an auction site for $50. The man said that his wife was 35 and according to him, "worth her weight in gold". The government ordered the auction site to remove the ad.
  2. Did you read about the lion like creature?. It seems that in Franklin Wisconsin employees at Franklin business park reported seeing a lion looking creature. Wardens were sent in to look for the creature, one of the officers at the scene saw a large cat-like animal. After a search of more than 2 hours  nothing was found. Nothing scary about that if you ask me, the taxman on the other hand, now that is scary.
  3. Did you read about the great wall of China?. It seems that a piece of the Great Wall was discovered straddling the Mongolian border. The remnants were found in Bayannur district. The great wall was built 2,100 years ago to protect China from northern barbarians.
