There are many ways to make a difference in this world. Some people volunteer, some give money to charities of their choice and some might do both. Personally, I am not the volunteering type, that is not something for me, I am more the giving type. Now, if you are like me, how would you feel if somebody else would give money to an organization of your choice just for using their product? If you are like me, then you have more than one instant messenger program installed on your computer. In this particular case I am talking about Windows Live Messenger. How do you do it?, first you have to download or upgrade to version 8.1 of messenger. After you have done that comes the best part of the process which is choosing your organization, there are nine to choose from, from poverty to disease to the environment, there is something for everybody. The American Red Cross and the Susan G. Komen For the Cure are just two of the names you will find there, I chose the latter one. The next step is to add some text code next to your display name, the one for my specific organization happens to be *komen, once you’ve done that you are ready to message your friends and according to the Windows Live Messenger site, “Every time you start a conversation using i’m, Microsoft shares a portion of the program’s advertising revenue with some of the world’s most effective organizations dedicated to social causes. We’ve set no cap on the amount we’ll donate to each organization. The sky’s the limit.” If you would like to find out more about the program go to the Windows Live Messenger site. Once you are there read, get informed and the next step is yours to make. And don’t forget to tell your friends to check it out. This to me is a great way to help and I commend Microsoft for doing this. As for me, you can be sure that I am in, want to join me?
