Investing 101

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Welcome to a brand new edition of investing 101. Because of an extra paycheck this month this is the third report this month. Things are moving along nicely and at this point in time I am going to stick with the investing choices I’ve made so far. At some point I am sure I am going to have to reevaluate and then maybe do some changes. When that happens you will be the first to know. In the meantime lets check them numbers.

Lets Make a Difference

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

There are many ways to make a difference in this world. Some people volunteer, some give money to charities of their choice and some might do both. Personally, I am not the volunteering type, that is not something for me, I am more the giving type. Now, if you are like me, how would you feel if somebody else would give money to an organization of your choice just for using their product? If you are like me, then you have more than one instant messenger program installed on your computer. In this particular case I am talking about Windows Live Messenger. How do you do it?, first you have to download or upgrade to version 8.1 of messenger. After you have done that comes the best part of the process which is choosing your organization, there are nine to choose from, from poverty to disease to the environment, there is something for everybody. The American Red Cross and the Susan G. Komen For the Cure are just two of the names you will find there, I chose the latter one. The next step is to add some text code next to your display name, the one for my specific organization happens to be *komen, once you’ve done that you are ready to message your friends and  according to the Windows Live Messenger site, “Every time you start a conversation using i’m, Microsoft shares a portion of the program’s advertising revenue with some of the world’s most effective organizations dedicated to social causes. We’ve set no cap on the amount we’ll donate to each organization. The sky’s the limit.” If you would like to find out more about the program go to the Windows Live Messenger site. Once you are there read, get informed and the next step is yours to make. And don’t forget to tell your friends to check it out. This to me is a great way to help and I commend Microsoft for doing this. As for me, you can be sure that I am in, want to join me?

Memorial Day

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Memorial Day is observed annually in honor of the nation’s armed services personnel killed in wartime. Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday in 1971, changing the date of observance from May 30 to the last Monday in May. We salute all the brave men and women serving in the Armed Forces and thank them for their service and sacrifice.

Sunday’s Post

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Pretty hard to believe that today is Sunday. The good thing is that is the middle of the 3 day weekend so that makes it  more bearable. Hope your weekend has been a good one because I sure can’t complaint about mine. I am still checking the new editor out, blog editor ok, and aside from some kinks I like what I see so far. And just like yesterday you are witnessing a post on a Sunday, something that you know you don’t see every weekend. Enjoy and be sure to come back and drop by for a visit anytime, you are always welcome. Now, lets get back to the weekend.

Posting on Saturday?

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Here we are on a Saturday, the first day of a 3 day weekend and that is the way I like it. If you are a regular reader of Weekenshere you know that there are no posts on weekends, so you are witnessing a very rare thing here. Today it’s different, I am checking this new Blog Editor to see how I like it or hate it, whatever it might be. I am happy to report that so far so good. I have been up all night tinkering with this thing, watching videos, playing X-2, listening to that song……………………………ok, ok, I have been doing a lot more than just tinkering, but you get the picture. By the way, I fixed the lyrics to that song. Now they look like real lyrics not a bunch of words, check it out.
