Here We Go

Monday, April 30th, 2007

The week is here, the weekend is history, that is life. Checking the weather outlook for this week it looks like its’s going to be a nice one. Low to mid 70’s just what the doctor ordered. This weekend I didn’t do that much, Saturday I did some laundry, then relaxed most of the day. Sunday was such a nice day, 76 and sunny that I just had to stay home and be plain lazy. It is fast becoming a bad habit but, my team the 4 time champion  D.C. United lost again. Season is young and staying calm, cool and collected is the thing to do, right?. Time to get back to work and get things done, remember to have fun and enjoy each day as much as possible ok. That is how I do it.

In The News

Friday, April 27th, 2007

What a perfect day, 79 degrees, sunny and best of all a Friday. So, sit back, relax, and read In The News. The one and only way to be informed.

  1. Did you read about the Coast Guard’s record seizure?. It seems that the Coast Guard seized 40,000 pounds of cocaine from 3 ships off the coast of Central America. The load worth an estimated $500 million dollars will be taken to Miami to be destroyed.
  2. Did you read about the drunken man?. It seems that a 40 year old man in Berlin drank a few too many and decided to crash for the night inside a banks’s heated foyer. That is not all, with no hitching post in sight he decided to bring his friend Sammy in with him. Sammy happens to be a no drinking  and a very respectable horse. At least Sammy was warm and confy. Here is a picture of Sammy and you can tell who that on the floor is.
  3. Did you read about the most stolen luxury cars according to ?. If you haven’t here is the top five. 1. Cadillac Escalade EXT, 2. BMW 7 Series, 3. land Rover Range Rover SUV, 4. Lincoln Navigator four-wheel-drive SUV and at number 5. Lexus GS Sedan.  Nobody is going to want to steal my 40 or 60 foot ride that is for sure.
  4. Did you read about founder Jeff Bezos?. It seems that Amazon’s stock was up more than 40% over two days. Mr Bezos who owns 101.3 million shares saw his net worth go up by roughly $1.8 billion big ones. Since I have not heard from Bill, Carlos or Bill I Wonder if Jeff could make me a loan, just $100G that is all.

Posting

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

When I first started this blog one of my goals was to post at least once a day. I am happy to report that I have reached that goal as you my readers already know. One reason why I take the weekends off is to rest, plus I don’t want to kill myself and burn myself out because that would only lead to irregular posting and that is something I wouldn’t want to happen. You visit this blog because you must like something and the least I can do is post something for you to read. It would be no fun to visit everyday only to find out that there is no new post or worst of all that the blog has not been updated since the day it was created 6 months ago, right?. I enjoy writing and as long as you keep visiting I will keep writing for you.

$100 is better than $50

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

As you know I invest the grand total of $50 a month to my 403-B. That may not seem like a lot but the way I see it those $50 are better off working hard earning something for the future than sitting at home being lazy. In the end though, that is only $600 plus whatever it ends up earning during the year that is being invested and that brings me to this question. Should I increase the amount being invested?, the answers of course is yes. The more you put away and the earliest you put it away to work for you the better you will be at the end. The next logical questions then becomes, how much more?, I think that doubling the amount to $100 makes a lot of sense and since that money is automatically deducted from my paycheck I won’t miss it. One of my goals is to invest 10% of my earnings toward retirement but at some point in time more than 10% will be required just to make up for time lost not investing. A small step in the right direction don’t you think. To conclude, remember that it is never too early or too late to start saving for retirement.

Weekend Recap

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

The weekend is over and it’s time to hit the ground running and make this week a very productive one. Nothing much happened this weekend, I basically stayed home getting things done around here but I did take breaks more often than allowed. Saturdays is the day when I relax watching soccer. I am hoping that after being idle this past Saturday my 4 time champion D.C. United will get its act together because 2 games and no wins make me very unhappy to say the least. Sundays I usually go and play some basketball, but I stayed home this time around. Some light rain and cold nights but a good weekend with no complaints.
